Welcome to Georgia! Upon arrival at Kutaisi International Airport, you’ll be met by your guide and transferred into the city. Early check-in and breakfast at the hotel.
Your first day begins with exploration of Kutaisi’s historical gems, including the Bagrati Cathedral (11th century), a towering symbol of Georgian resilience and medieval architecture, and the Gelati Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by King David the Builder in the 12th century, once a vibrant hub of theology and science.
Next, journey to Borjomi, a resort town famous for its healing mineral springs and lush Central Park. End the day in Akhaltsikhe, a town steeped in history and home to your overnight stay.
After breakfast, drive to the extraordinary Vardzia cave monastery, carved into the cliffs during the reign of Queen Tamar in the 12th century. This massive rock-cut city once housed monks, royals, and villagers — with its intricate tunnels, frescoes, and churches hidden deep within the mountain.
Return to Akhaltsikhe to visit the beautifully restored Rabati Fortress, a multicultural stronghold that combines medieval, Ottoman, and Georgian influences, overlooking the river and town below.
Later in the day, transfer to Tbilisi, Georgia’s dynamic capital. Check in to your hotel and rest up for tomorrow’s city exploration.
After breakfast, dive into the character and contrasts of Tbilisi, starting at the massive Holy Trinity Cathedral, one of the tallest Orthodox churches in the world. Visit the Metekhi Church and statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of the city.
Take a cable car up to Narikala Fortress for sweeping views over Tbilisi’s rooftops and river. Descend into the old sulfur bath district and stroll through Sharden Street, known for its cozy cafés, art shops, and lively vibe.
Visit Sioni Cathedral, Anchiskhati Basilica, the whimsical Rezo Gabriadze Clock Tower, and cross the ultra-modern Bridge of Peace to reach Rike Park. End the day at the Open Air Museum of Ethnography — or, if preferred, substitute with a visit to the Georgian National Museum or National Gallery to see Pirosmani's famous paintings.
Leave Tbilisi and head to Mtskheta, the ancient capital and spiritual heart of Georgia. Visit Jvari Monastery, perched atop a hill with magnificent views of the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers, and explore Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, believed to house the robe of Christ.
Continue along the Georgian Military Highway, stopping at the impressive Ananuri Fortress, located above the shimmering Zhinvali Reservoir. Drive through alpine scenery, reaching the town of Stepantsminda (Kazbegi).
Take a 4WD vehicle up to Gergeti Trinity Church, located at 2,170 meters, with jaw-dropping views of the towering Mount Kazbek (5,033 m). Overnight in Kazbegi.
Begin your journey back westward with a stop in Gori, birthplace of Joseph Stalin. Tour the Stalin Museum, which houses a preserved collection of personal items, photographs, and his bulletproof railway carriage.
Next, explore Uplistsikhe, an ancient rock-hewn town that dates back to the early Iron Age. Walk through its tunnels, wine cellars, pagan temples, and Christian churches carved directly into the cliffs.
In the evening, return to Kutaisi and check into your hotel for your final overnight stay.
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and transfer to Kutaisi International Airport for your departure. Your 6-day Georgian journey concludes — but the memories will last a lifetime.
