Itinerary
“Start your Turkish adventure with at least one night in Istanbul, the continental metropolis that Greeks, Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans now call home.Spend a full day sightseeing in the capital before joining your travel team and group leaders for an important welcome meeting at 6pm. You don't have to walk far to get your first kebab, why not join us for an optional dinner after the meeting, perfect for a sidewalk café to sample some great Turkish cuisine.
"Today we traveled by bus (about 5.5 hours) to the coast of Gallipoli, an important peninsula for Australians and New Zealanders. For many, it is now a place of pilgrimage to see the calm seas and peaceful countryside that lie where such brutal battles took place during World War I. Soak up the awe and tranquility of this region and hear stories of heroism and friendship that shone through the tragedy of war. Continue to Chanakkale and spend the night there. Being a university city, it has a young, local vibe – relax with a drink on the edge of the Dardanelles or listen to a local band playing with your fellow travellers.
"Today, you have the option of taking a trip to the Ruins of Troy this morning, where you can explore the ancient walls, climb around the 4500-year-old ruins, admire the statue of the Trojan Horse and see the Troad towards the Dardanelles and the hills of the Gallipoli Peninsula. Then, drive down the coast to the beautiful gravel roads to Ayvalik (approximately 3.5 hours of crumbed meat). and bustling cafes. You can also board a boat from Ayvalik to Cunda Island, home to many Greek Orthodox churches and famous for its dairy farming. The town is located around a harbor and overlooks the Aegean Islands, so what better way to start the evening with a drink at a harbor bar.
"This morning, take the 4-hour trip by local bus to the traditional farming village of Selcuk. Once there, take an orientation walk to orient yourself - a city steeped in history filled with artefacts and monuments that reflect its past as an ancient fortress. Then you can head to the ruins of nearby Ephesus and explore the ancient Mark Antony and Cleopa streets. Best preserved in town in the world, home to tap water, public toilets, indoor heating, medical institute, a brothel and Roman baths. The theater is also well preserved, but the magnificent library is perhaps the most stunning. Nearby are the remains of the Temple of Artemis - one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Relax tonight in Selcuk, where you can sample Turkish meze and raki for dinner with some members of your tour group.
“Drive inland east to Pamukkale (about 4 hours). Literally means ‘cotton castle’. Here, amazing natural hot springs rich in calcium burst over cliff edges, leaving sparkling white terraces, or "cottons." It has been used as a health resort since the 2nd century BC, and its waters are said to have many healing properties. If yesterday's story reminded you of Cleopatra, why not explore the ancient city of Hierapolis and take a dip in what was once an ancient pool. This spring is a transparent spring full of water, formed as a gift from Mark to Cleo. You can also see other ruins in the city. Hierapolis is known for its abundance of temples and religious buildings, and the amphitheater is a must-see.
"Take the local bus to Fethiye (approximately 5 o'clock.) Arrive on time to experience this bustling port town and if you have time, catch a dolphin to Saklikent Gorge or explore the alleys of Fethiye's old town and find a bargain. The best part is up to you. Tonight, go for a walk near the port with your group, check out the vibrant local seafood and explore the local seafood night and explore the area.
Accommodation: Hostel (shared multiple times)"
"This morning you are going to the ghost town of Kayakoy. Walk through the abandoned stone houses and wooded countryside, and watch out for the goats. Today you will be hiking, so make sure you wear good shoes. From Kayakoy, continue walking up the hills to see the wonderful Blue Lagoon in Oludeniz. Return today and return by local Kayakoy bus in the evening. Relax and enjoy the included dinner at Koyakoy.
“This morning we will return to Fethiye by local bus and then travel by local bus to Kas, the southernmost tip of Turkey (about 3 hours). Kas, with its bougainvillea-covered whitewashed buildings and cobbled streets, is one of the most charming towns on Turkey's Mediterranean coast. Have lunch, spend an hour or two strolling the streets, then walk down the road to Kekova for an hour. Upon arrival and settling down, follow your guide through the orientation of the city. It's a free evening that you can spend as you please.
Get ready for a fascinating day out cruising and exploring off the Turkish coast. Cruise onwards to the sunken Lycian city of Simena, from where remains of a mysterious civilisation can be viewed, as earthquakes sunk this land almost 2500 years ago. Here you can walk up to nearby Simena Castle, swim in crystal-clear waters, or explore Lycian rock-tombs. More swimming, sunbaking, eating and repeating – cruising the Turkish coast is a dream. Get back to Kekova in the afternoon and enjoy the rest of the day in this idyllic town.
“After breakfast, it is best to take a public bus (about 3.5 hours) to Antalya, the capital of Turkey's Mediterranean region. It's hard to get a bad photo when you see Antalya's charming cobbled streets, historic old town, lively marina and the Taurus Mountains that surround the city. Cruise around the city with your group leader, take a nostalgic tram ride, or head to Konyaalti Beach for a little more beach time. , or experience the beautiful Roman theater of the ancient city of Aspendos as it is.How about planning a meal and shisha with your group tonight?Antalya has a vibrant nightlife, so take advantage of it.
As there are no activities planned for the day, you can leave the property anytime after breakfast as long as you follow the property's internal check-out time.
