Маршрут

Your journey begins with an early departure from Almaty at 07:00. The first stop is Tamgaly Tas, a fascinating site located along the banks of the Ili River. This open-air gallery is home to ancient rock carvings featuring Buddha images and inscriptions in Tibetan, Kalmyk, and other scripts. Learn about the historical significance and the local legends tied to this mysterious site while enjoying scenic views of the river.

After breakfast (served at 07:00), set out to explore two of the park's geological highlights — the Katutau and Aktau Mountains.

  • The Katutau Mountains ("Harsh Mountains") are remnants of long-extinct volcanoes, where erosion has sculpted bizarre shapes and dramatic formations from ancient lava and volcanic rock.

  • The Aktau Mountains ("White Mountains") are considered one of the largest open-air paleontological deposits in Central Asia. These multicolored chalk hills — made up of red clay, sandstone, jasper, quartz, and other minerals — resemble a painted desert and contain fossilized remains from an ancient sea that once covered the area.

After a full day of exploration and photography, return to your accommodation for a well-earned rest.

Following breakfast, depart from Altyn-Emel and begin your drive toward Charyn Canyon, one of Kazakhstan's most iconic natural wonders.

Along the way, stop to visit a rare grove of ancient Sogdian ash trees near the Temerlik River — a peaceful spot perfect for a short walk or picnic break.

Upon arrival at Charyn Canyon, take a guided walk through the breathtaking Valley of Castles, a 2-kilometer stretch of towering rock formations shaped by wind and water over millions of years. These dramatic red cliffs resemble fortresses, as if built by legendary giants — a view that leaves a lasting impression.

After exploring the canyon, begin the return journey to Almaty (approx. 4 hours).
Arrival in the city and transfer to your Airport — tour concludes.
